SFDBA gets award for Excellence in Campus Collaboration

San Francisco Disability Business Alliance (SFDBA) is honored to receive the Community Partner Award for Excellence in Campus Collaboration from the San Francisco State Institute for Civic & Community Engagement (ICCE).

The Civic & Community Engagement Awards is held annually and honors individuals and groups for their outstanding leadership, service, and collaboration deepening the connections between the University and the community. In particular, the Community Partner Award for Excellence in Campus Collaboration recognizes campus-community partnerships that have made significant strides in improving student learning outcomes, increasing faculty awareness, and deepening knowledge of community needs.

Peter DeHaas, founder of SFDBA, received this award for connecting students from SFSU with internship opportunities at SFDBA that counted towards their degree program and further enhanced their understanding of civic & community engagement and responsibility. In particular, students who readily self-identify with their disability or learning difference were inspired to consider starting a small or micro enterprise as a pathway to a sustainable life and with the help of the SFDBA Future Entrepreneurship Cohort program and Bay Area Disability Entrepreneurship week.
